Information
Before registering a vehicle, new residents first must acquire
automobile insurance. Proof of insurance is required to register
a vehicle. The state of Florida requires that after 90 days of
legal residency, vehicles are to be covered by PIP and property
damage insurance.
Vehicles must be registered before a driver’s license may be granted.
To register a vehicle, proof of ownership, title, vehicle identification
number, odometer reading and valid automobile insurance are required.

Driver’s License: New residents only need to pass a visual examination
if they already have a valid driver’s license from another state.
A Florida license is valid for six years.
